Our Programs
Lower Elementary Program
The lower elementary program consists of a three-year cycle, with children in first grade through third, ages ranging from 6 to 9. Children in this program are independent and social, and enjoy exploring and discovering new things about their world while working cooperatively in pairs or small groups.
Because of their curiosity, the rich cultural curriculum supports and engages children through the Great Lessons designed to impress and inspire them to take advantage of acquiring new knowledge about their world through the sciences such as biology, botany, chemistry and history. In addition to the cultural curriculum, children participate in a rich hands-on math and language program.
Upper Elementary Program
Like the three-year cycle in the lower elementary, children in grades fourth through sixth make up the upper elementary program. Children who move up from the lower elementary to the upper elementary are better prepared for abstract concepts, as they build their acquisition of higher knowledge through further study of the cultural curriculum. Work in this program is more defined and meaningful, and generally results in community service projects and frequent field trips.
The upper elementary program also consists of 7th and 8th graders, where collaborative and independent learning takes center stage. Adolescents become experiential learners who desire freedom to choose what they want to learn. For this reason, autonomy with little external meddling is pivotal. Since these children learn by doing, abstract learning that involves problem-solving and socialization skills is paramount in this stage of the game. Most importantly, the children play a major role in selecting learning content in science, technology, literature, and humanity topics. In addition to the diverse Montessori curriculum, the children have an active role in community service projects, experiential leaning, field trips, business ownership, and creative projects to manage mastery.
